MAGNUM OPUS (APRIL 2013)
after unfinished business, i knew that i wanted to make the comics into a series. i was dealing with a lot at the time, so i made a set of rules for myself:
1. it didn’t matter how goofy or incomprehensible the writing was; this was all just part of a weird experiment.
2. i would devote the barest amount of effort to creating the art.
3. the comics would be a safe place to anyone who read them (no alienating humor, politics, or toxicity).
4. no client or paycheck would ever become involved with the comics. this was my thing, and no one could tell me what to do.
thus, the comics became an important creative outlet for me, mostly free of self-criticism and pressure. i guess what i’m saying is, i don’t really like the comic above (ha) but why judge it in the first place? life is full enough of qualifiers and judgements.
